My Natural Doll was created to give little girls a doll to play with that looks like them. In a world where the dolls we play with and the role models we see shapes our perception of beauty and our self confidence, it is important that our little girls are constantly exposed to a reflection of themselves – beautiful dark skin and kinky hair like that which grows out of their own head.
There are Four Unique features that sets My Natural Doll apart from other dolls: her skin color, her dress, her song and most importantly her hair. The first Girl in the doll line is a very dark skin girl, a model of color that is lacking in most of the “Black” dolls on the market”. She wears a babydoll dress created from African Print pattern inherent from her culture and descent. Her most important feature is her hair which is created from 100% Curly Kinky textured and identically resembles the hair that naturally grows from our head. In a world where our self esteem and self worth beauty is directly translated by the love of our skin and hair, this feature allows little girls to see the dolls hair as beautiful and thus themselves as beautiful. It also teaches them the versatility of their own hair and essentially how to manage and take care of it as we live in a time where even adult women do not know how to manage their own natural hair due to the lack of exposure to their own natural hair. My Natural Doll comes with a song also titled My Natural Doll whose lyrics encompass all of the above and reflect the confidence of a child who loves and believes in herself because of the reflections of the models of beauty, strength and empowerment she is exposed to growing up, including her black mother, her black father, and her baby doll, My Natural Doll.
